Donald Trump eclipsed Joe Biden’s April campaign fundraising haul by over $25 million as the Democratic incumbent suffered from a drop in donations last month.
The Biden campaign and Democratic National Committee revealed Monday that they raised more than $51 million in April, far less than the $90 million both entities reported bringing in in March.
Meanwhile, the Trump campaign and Republican National Committee boasted a $76 million April haul earlier this month.
“[A]ll while [Trump] was forced to sit in a courtroom for a sham, Soviet-style trial,” RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, wrote on X, highlighting the disparity in the Biden’s April numbers compared to Trump’s.
“Despite their desperate attempts to stop him, the momentum & grassroots support is GROWING & will continue all the way to Nov 5,” she added.
While Trump, 77, dominated in April, the Biden campaign appears to have the edge cash wise.
The Biden campaign and the DNC reported having a $192 million cash war chest, the highest total of any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle.
The Trump campaign and the RNC closed out March with $93.1 million in cash-on-hand.
The entities have not reported their April war chest total, but even with the $76 million haul, it would not surpass Biden’s cash-on-hand.
“April’s haul reflects strong, consistent grassroots enthusiasm for reelecting Joe and Kamala, and is giving us the resources necessary to invest in opening offices, hiring organizers and communicating across our battleground states in order to mobilize the coalition of voters who will decide this election,” Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement.
“Trump’s operation continues to burn through cash and lag behind our growing and aggressive campaign, with no ground game and no demonstrable interest in talking to the voters they need to win,” she added. “We’re taking nothing for granted, but only our campaign is doing the required work every single day to earn voters’ support this November.”
The Biden campaign has routinely bested Trump in monthly fundraising.
Trump’s April numbers were boosted by a massive $50.5 million single-day haul from an event held at the Palm Beach, Fla., home of billionaire investor John Paulson.
That gathering was Trump’s response to the Biden campaign’s Radio City Music Hall fundraiser in New York, which raised $26 million for the 81-year-old incumbent in March.
The glitzy event was attended by former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama and several A-list celebrities.
The Biden campaign touted Monday having raised more than $473 Million since the president launched his re-election campaign last April.
