The Queensland government will release statistics on youth crime more regularly after failing to follow through on a year-old pledge.
Last year, the then-Palaszczuk government committed to publish data every six months on Queensland’s performance on three youth crime performance indicators.
But one year on, only one of those – the number of Indigenous children in detention – has been published.
The state’s Youth Justice Minister says data for the first quarter of this year will be published in late May.
Opposition youth justice spokeswoman Laura Gerber says the government had broken its promise to be more transparent about data.
