A recent Newspoll has shown a majority of Australians would back a move to small-scale nuclear reactors following concerns for electricity prices in the country.
The Labor government has ruled out support for nuclear, while the Coalition has flagged its support.
Deputy Opposition Leader Sussan Ley says what the polling says is that Australians are up for an “adult conversation” on nuclear energy, but the “Labor party is not”.
“Young people are very engaged with this issue,” Ms Ley told Sky News Australia.
“Labor has got it all wrong.”
