American Rock & Roll Hall of Famers KISS have thrilled the Melbourne Cricket Ground with a brilliant performance ahead of the AFL Grand Final.
The worldwide superstars were a late inclusion to the AFL’s biggest day being announced after Crowded House pulled out just under two months out from the event.
Dressed in their trademark outfits and face paint KISS rocked the MCG performing their hits I Was Made For Lovin’ You and Rock And Roll All Nite to a crowd of around 100,000.
Fans immediately took to social media to applaud the AFL for their choice of act.
“Best Grand Final entertainment ever,” one fan wrote on X.
“Brilliant. Robbie Williams last year & KISS this year. The AFL has set a precedent they can’t & shouldn’t back away from. Only big acts who can ROCK a stadium from now on,” wrote another.
“Brilliant performance. Exactly what the Grand final and the fans need.”
A third commented: “KISS did well. Quite the spectacle. Good mix of live backing vocals and live. Great production effort for middle of the day. Kudos to the producers.”
“I’m still shaking, my heart was racing during watching that KISS performance, that was cool and this is coming from someone who is not a huge fan. But overall I was curious too what a KISS show is like and now I know,” a fourth wrote.
KISS is currently travelling around the globe on their “End of the World” tour and made time to stop in at the MCG for the Grand Final.
Throughout the performance flamethrowers were in abundance while the bandmembers wore their famous metallic and black outfits showing no signs of their age or the sweltering heat.
Hundreds of young performers added to the show dancing in front of the stage spelling out KISS on the ground.
KISS is one of the biggest rock and roll bands in the world releasing 44 albums over their 40-year career and selling more than 100 million copies.
The band has also featured at high-profile sporting events like the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics.
