The latest Newspoll shows a majority of Australians would support a move to replace retired coal-fired power plants with small modular nuclear reactors.
The poll revealed that 55 per cent of all voters supported the move, however around 31 per cent were against it.
With 16 per cent of voters said they were unsure.
People aged between 18 to 35 showed the highest support for the move to small-scale nuclear power.
