Sky News Investigative Reporter Jonathan Lea discusses the scrutiny levelled against two of the nation’s largest super funds as distraught families are put through “absolute hell”.
There are calls for a Senate inquiry into super funds after a third accusation of unethical conduct was levelled against AustralianSuper.
The fund stands accused of taking advantage of grieving families for financial gain, which it rejects.
Other families also detailed to Sky News Australia their frustrations with CBUS Super.
Mr Lea said Facebook pages are “awash with complaints” from grieving family members who have been put through “absolute hell” in order to get the money they are entitled to.
“People behind the scenes say that it’s not the super funds deliberately holding out on giving them the money, although the victims feel differently in that regard; it’s a problem with staffing numbers, and they are working feverishly to fix the problem,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
