Fire engulfed a petrol station in Sydney’s west on Wednesday night.
It took firefighting crews almost three hours to bring the blaze under control.
Customers were filling up at Fairfield’s Metro Petroleum just after 6pm when gas cylinders began to explode.
Around 50 firefighters rushed to the scene, knocking on doors and evacuating nearby residents.
Local residents were kept from their homes until it was declared safe to return and the business will be unable to reopen for some time.
