In a national first, the South Australian Government has introduced a bill which could provide a coordinated approach to hydrogen and renewable energy.
The landmark legislation is designed to slash red tape for investors in the hopes it will streamline the energy grid’s transition to renewables.
SA Premier Peter Malinauskas has particularly emphasised the importance of hydrogen to accelerate state reindustrialisation.
The Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Bill was introduced on Wednesday and, if set to pass, it will give state government the ability to make high-quality solar and wind-resourced land available for investors.
SA Energy Minister Tom Koutsantonis has claimed it will provide a significant opportunity to attract and retain global investment into the state.
