Scott Charlton, the outgoing CEO of Transurban, has been named the incoming CEO of Sydney Airport.
“Sydney Airport is, in my opinion, Australia’s primary gateway, New South Wales’ economic core, and an emblematic global infrastructure asset. It’s both an honour and a privilege to get the chance to lead such a talented group of individuals in the aviation sector,” he said.
He will officially assume the role on December 1.
Mr Charlton will be succeeding Geoff Culbert, who intended to resign publicly in May.
Among the challenges Mr Charlton will face in his new position is addressing the allegations of airlines hoarding slots, a strategy reportedly used to inflate prices and limit market competition.
