Former Liberal advisor David Gazard says people are using the heatwaves in Sydney and increased bushfire risks to push the notion that Australia is in “peril” due to climate change.
Sydney is experiencing an early taste of summer as temperatures had passed 30 degrees during the week.
Sydney’s fire danger rating has been raised to ‘High’.
“Every time you have one of these things, it’s obviously going to spark the debate,” Mr Gazard told Sky News Australia.
“The climate debate kicks along and alternate forms of power and generation are going to be with us for a long time.”
