Assistant Minister for Indigenous Australians Malarndirri McCarthy says it is an “incredible time in Australia’s history” as Australians will be able to vote for the Voice to Parliament in the coming weeks.
Pre-polling for the referendum has begun in certain states and territories.
Ms McCarthy said she believes to make the change to the constitution and put forward the Voice to Parliament “would be very good for this country”.
“To give First Nations people a voice to the Parliament, enshrined in the constitution,” she told Sky News Australia.
“So that they can be able to give advice on matters that impact them.
“I think it’s a really wonderful time in our country’s history.”
