A woman has died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s east on Friday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to Fitzgerald Avenue in Maroubra just before 5pm following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
Paramedics treated the women believed to be in her 70s, but she died at the scene.
A police spokesperson said the female driver was not injured in the crash and has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Fitzgerald Avenue remains closed with local diversions in place.
